Nah Tah Wahsh School and the Hannahville
Indian Community would like to thank Mark Christal for his guidance, patience
and assistance. Without him and the 4Directions
Challenge Grant, this site would not be possible. Our participation in the
4Directions Summer Institute provided training and time for us to explore the
uses of technology to integrate Native American culture into our curriculum and
to share it with the world via the Internet. Our brief trip to New York to
participate in the development of the
virtual tour of the National
Museum of the American Indian Conexus truly ignited the spark that has led
to the development of our own virtual museum. We would also like to thank the
Institute of Museum and Library Services for
the financial support provided by their funding of Project:
History on the Web and Access Native America
for our Internet connection.
The Hannahville
Indian Community and the Nah Tah Wahsh
School Board have been generous and supportive of our endeavors. Megwetch!
In
May 2000, students and staff had the opportunity to spend a week photographing
and documenting Native American artifacts at the Fort de Buade Museum in St.
Ignace, Michigan. Each day, two teachers and four students traveled to St.
Ignace (about a three hour trip) to spend the afternoons at the museum. Our
thanks goes to Dr. Benson for his kindness and generosity.
During the second
semester of the 2000-01 school year, students will be trained to use the cameras
and Kaidan Magellan 2000
object rig. We will begin searching out a local museum to visit in April or May.
