This object is a birch bark picture frame. The frame is approximately 7 centimeters wide by about 9 centimeters high, and is Ojibwa in origin. The picture frame is 18 years old and is made from birch bark and sweet grass. The sweet grass is used to outline the picture opening and the sides of the frame. Thread is used to hold the sweet grass in place and the picture frame together.
